The concept of intersectionality and its academic and political strength

On March 23rd 2017, the administration of Montevideo started the INTERSECTIONALITY Cycle in the Spanish Center for education and cooperation in Montevideo.

Marta Cruells’ conference took place at that time, a conference about the concept of “intersectionality” and its academic and political strength.

Marta Cruells – Adviser of the Feminist Council and LGBT of the City of Barcelona, ​​as well as Doctor of Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She specializes in gender theory, inequalities, gender violence, criminal systems, analysis and evaluation of public policies.

Furthermore, she worked on the social inclusion and analysis of the social movement. During her professional journey, she has coordinated various evaluations and policies about equality and advised administrations.

Author of Democracy of the Future: from the 15M to the emergence of a living civil society (2013) and Women, Integration and Prison. An analysis of the processes of socio labour integration of women prisoners in Europe. European Commission (2006). Her work has also been published in several scientific journals.
